Since my last post I have started a new job! I have been very busy since then and have not posted since Aug 28, 2023. I now have more time to spend on this project so I plan to start posting regularly and updating the UI/UX of this website. Stay tuned!

I was browsing Kaggle and...
I have taken interest in image to image translation using CycleGAN architecture. 

## Monet

For my first model I've decided to use the popular Monet image datasets from Kaggle.
This dataset contains 300  Monet paintings, and some regular images to convert to Monet style.

## 3D Printed Airplane. 

I was out for a test flight yesterday with my latest 3D printed aircraft. I'll post a video when I get it uploaded to YouTube. It went better than the first time but still ended badly, quickly.

Today was productive in terms of working on new features and changes. The following section will give a little explanation about each feature.

## Migration from file-system to MongoDB

Initially, blog posts were stored on the file-system as .md files. This was bad for a few reasons: First, the app needed to be rebuilt to add new posts. Second, vercels deployment had a read-only file-system so I couldn't edit a note without rebuilding either. Switching to MongoDB resolves both of these problems.

## The Editor

The editor is now working! I'm writing this post on it right now. 
 
 ## ESLint
 
I set up ESLint today to ensure that the codebase is consistent. This makes a code much easier to read in my opinion.

## Cypress

Testing is important! Untested code is technical debt. I implemented E2E and component testing.

This blog is just starting devlopment. It is at the point where it is able to be hosted and display posts.

## Next goal
I'd like to be able to add posts from a web interface. I think I'll make a separate project to populate a database of posts. This app will have to be converted to retrieve posts from that database.

Advantages of this method are that I can add posts without rebuilding the app on vercel. Posts would be retrieved from a server sided api and sent to the client. I think momgodb is well suited for this. I only need a simple database and I could host it using mongodb Atlas.

1. Add an about me page
2. Add links to github and LinkedIn
3. Register and set up domain name.
